Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra Dummy Reveals Camera Redesign and MagSafe Compatibility

Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra dummy reveals a redesigned camera bar, potential MagSafe-style accessory compatibility and familiar S Pen support. Discover its dimensions, design changes and why existing Galaxy S26 Ultra cases may not fit.

Samsung’s Galaxy S27 Ultra could introduce one of the most noticeable design changes to its flagship smartphone lineup in recent years, with a redesigned camera bar potentially improving compatibility with magnetic accessories while retaining the S Pen.

Although the Galaxy S27 Ultra is still months away from its official debut, leaked renders and a newly built physical dummy unit are providing an early look at the upcoming device. While renders of the smartphone leaked months ago, Android Headlines has now created a dummy unit based on its exclusive CAD files, offering a closer look at the redesigned camera arrangement and overall dimensions.

The most noticeable change is the redesigned camera bar, which moves the cameras higher up on the back of the smartphone. The new arrangement leaves more space for magnetic accessories, potentially making the Galaxy S27 Ultra significantly more compatible with MagSafe-style chargers and battery packs.

This could address a limitation of the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which currently supports magnetic accessories through compatible Qi2 cases. However, its large camera bump can interfere with accessories, preventing them from connecting properly. Poor alignment can result in slower charging and excessive heat.

The redesigned camera bar could offer a practical improvement in accessory compatibility, although the extent of the benefit will become clearer once the final device is unveiled.

Meanwhile, the dummy unit retains the S Pen slot at the bottom, suggesting Samsung is not planning to abandon its built-in stylus with the upcoming flagship.

The phone’s dimensions also appear to remain largely unchanged. According to the reported measurements, the Galaxy S27 Ultra measures 163.76 x 78.25 x 7.97mm, compared with 163.6 x 78.1 x 7.9mm for the Galaxy S26 Ultra. This makes the upcoming smartphone marginally larger than its predecessor.

Beyond the camera arrangement and dimensions, Android Headlines notes that the dummy unit appears to sit more steadily on a flat surface than the Galaxy S26 Ultra. However, tapping the screen still causes some wobble.

Since the dummy does not have the final smartphone’s weight, it is too early to draw conclusions about how the finished device will behave when placed on a flat surface.

The redesigned camera bar also gives the Galaxy S27 Ultra a look somewhat reminiscent of the iPhone 18 Pro. Samsung, however, is not the only Android manufacturer moving towards this design, which could offer practical benefits beyond aesthetics.

For existing Galaxy Ultra owners, the new camera arrangement could also mean replacing their accessories. The redesigned layout will likely make Galaxy S26 Ultra cases incompatible with the upcoming device. While some cases with particularly large camera cutouts might still fit, most users will need to purchase new cases.

Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S27 series in early 2027. Until then, the physical dummy unit offers an early glimpse of the Galaxy S27 Ultra’s potential design direction, with the camera bar emerging as its most significant visible change while the rest of the device remains largely familiar.
